How Spray Foam Insulation Works
According to the US Department of Energy, the average home can lose up to 40 percent of the heat produced by the furnace through air infiltrating into the building. Spray foam insulation works well to stop this process because of its formula and how it is applied. The polyurethane foam comes in two separate containers and is sprayed simultaneously. When the two chemicals combine, they rapidly expand around the structure. This allows it to seep into the cracks and crevices.

R-value means resistance to heat flow. A product’s R-value is how the amount of thermal protection it provides is measured. Spray foam insulation boasts an R-value of 4 to 6 per inch, which is more than double the protection of blown in and batt insulation.
